Environmental Philosophy
We will strive to conserve the global environment and continue to be the good company that society expects us to be.
PACIFIC Environmental Challenge 2050
As a company that conducts business on a global scale and benefits from the global environment, we will reduce the impact on the global environment as much as possible, and strive to mitigate and adapt to climate change so that future generations can live together with nature as we do now. We will work globally to realize a sustainable society.
Mitigation of and Adaptation to Climate Change
The world’s Industrial society has set out to challenge rising world-wide temperatures by aiming at reducing the rising temperature of 2°C (maintaining at 1.5°C). By 2050 the formulated long-term plan challenges on the reduction of CO2 gases among other greenhouse gases to zero. To help meet this goal, setting 2030 as a mid-term goal, every 5 years we will promote activities for production development with facility upgrades, production process improvement, daily improvement activities and the introduction of renewable energy. We will actively work towards building a decarbonized society to mitigate climate change.

FY2030 Target | 50% Reduction |
FY2050 Target | Net Zero |
Sustainable Resources Use
Our business uses a large amount of resources in the process of manufacturing. In light of the changing demands and values of society, we will strive to manufacture products based on the premise of recovery and reuse of resources from procurement of raw materials and product design stage, and promote the reduction of industrial waste and the establishment of a sustainable recycling-oriented society.

FY2030 Target | 30% Reduction |
FY2050 Target | Minimum Usage |
*Our 2030 targets have been revised because the disclosed data did not include domestic material recycling nor the amount of disposal at some bases.
Conservation of Water Resources
While damage from floods and droughts are becoming more serious worldwide as a result of climate change, concerns about water shortages due to reduced precipitation are growing. We will promote effective use of water resources by ascertaining water risks in line with regional circumstances, by reducing water consumption and promoting recycling. We will also promote businesses that take biodiversity into consideration, such as considering the ecosystem of upstream and basins.

System for the promotion of environmental activities
The company is promoting daily environmental conservation and improvement activities led by the company organization and centered on worksites to respond promptly to changes in external and internal conditions.
The president is the Chief Environmental Officer and environmental policies and targets are discussed and determined by the “Corporate Strategy Committee.” Led by the officer in charge of the environment, who is responsible for environmental control, the Environment Secretariat implements the company-wide promotion and management of environmental management and holds “issue resolution consultation meetings” aimed at achieving environmental targets.
Each business division has established an “Environmental Management Committee” for the smooth promotion of environmental conservation activities in each plant’s area. Environmental Management Committees promote the effective improvement of policy realization and target achievement. Each Planning Center promotes environmental conservation activities from the perspective of corporate functions, and the “General Managers’ Committee” decides the direction. In these ways and others, we are working on continuous improvements that transcend our organization to carry out sustainable environmental conservation activities.

Environmental Audits
Along with third-party audits, we conduct internal audits and management reviews (top management inspections) to ensure proper operation and continuous improvement of environment management systems.
Every year, we conduct an audit to see whether everybody related to the company is making continuous improvements in environmental conservation activities through the PDCA cycle, and whether they are complying with all requirements, including laws and regulations.
Internal audits provide an important opportunity for candid discussions, opinions, and proposals based on mutual audits, and we are working to improve the overall level.

Environmental Risk Management
The company identifies risks that would have a significant impact on the environment (legal violations, leakage and pollution accidents, etc.) and the Environmental Management Committee plays a central role in preventing and reducing such risks, and responding to them if they occur.
We have established procedures based on the “Emergency Management Rules” in anticipation of cases of emergency, such as a leakage of oil or chemical substances or soil contamination. In addition, we are also working to promote environmental risk management by reviewing these regularly and building systems that enable us to respond quickly in the event of an emergency.
We received no environmental fines or penalties in FY2022. (Pacific Industries Group)
